Carl Verheyen is a major presence on guitar. In his 40 years of playing the instrument he has created a successful multi-faceted career. Carl is respected as a virtuoso guitarist with 9 CDs released worldwide, and his critically acclaimed music is recognized internationally. The Carl Verheyen Band is a popular attraction at clubs and festivals in Europe and has a huge following in the USA and Japan. He has also managed to be one of LA’s “first call” session players for the last 25 years, playing on hundreds of records, movie soundtracks and television shows. In 1996 Carl won the LA Music Awards “Best Guitarist” award, Guitar Player Magazine reader’s poll for “Best Studio Guitarist,” and he has won similar honors in Germany, France and the UK.
Carl is well known as a member of the legendary British rock group Supertramp. With the group since 1985, Carl has played on the big stages of the world to huge crowds of up to 160,000. On tours through the 80’s and 90’s Supertramp continually sold out 15,000 seat arenas all over the world. A new album and another world tour in 2002 once again put Carl in front of a million enthusiastic fans.
Carl and his band have headlined prestigious festivals like the Bath International Guitar Festival in England. Last year, besides touring in 12 countries, Carl wrote a new book, composed another movie soundtrack score and released a live DVD / CD called “Rumor Mill” with his band! This box set has won numerous awards including Best Dual Disc and Best Additional Features. His first all acoustic CD, “Solo Guitar Improvisations” (on CMG Records) was released in May 2001. And a new Carl Verheyen Band CD, will be released in the Fall of 2006. These are just a few of the highlights of the man that Guitar Magazine calls “one of the top 10 best guitar players in the world.”
